The reason shitcoins have been rallying while bitcoin trends sideways is because right now it is a risk-on environment, as evidenced by stocks hitting all time highs. If bitcoin was a risk asset it would also be rallying. This might mean bitcoin is showing its first signs of shifting into the risk-off asset segment. This is what bitcoin should be doing. In preparation for further economic turmoil through the rest of 2020 and into 2021 bitcoin is morphing into a safe haven risk-off asset. As stock markets roll over later this year expect altcoins to fall alongside them while bitcoin rallies. The decoupling is at hand. Edit: some people see volatility and disregard the idea bitcoin could be a safe haven. Look at the charts, gold is rising in preparation for a huge bull market, silver is volatile but following gold, bitcoin is even more volatile but following silver. Just because silver tanked in march does not mean it won't follow gold to new all time highs, and similarly just because bitcoin tanked in march does not mean it won't follow silver to new all time highs. Gold will lead, silver will follow gold with more volatility, and bitcoin will follow silver with even more volatility. Gold will 5x, silver will 10x and bitcoin will 50x over the next 3 years.
For Trading August 13th TSLA $1,554 +180 (13%) GOLD / SILVER Recover CSCO & LYFT MISS #s Today’s market got off to a slightly higher start on the combination of CPI data and the futures, with all major indexes higher. The NASDAQ was the leader, by far, gaining almost the same point value as the DJIA on an index 60% smaller. At the close the DJIA was +289.93 (1.05%), NASDAQ +229.42 (2.13%), S&P 500 +46.66 (1.4%), the Russell +8.15 (.52%), and the DJ Transports +46.57 (.43%). Market internals were weak with the NYSE only 9:5 UP and the NASDAQ 9:7, and lower volume than yesterday. The DJIA was the same as yesterday, 23:7 but almost the entire gain was in 4 names, AAPL +100DP’s, HD & UNH +46 each, and MSFT +40DP’s while on the downside we had BA-32 and AXP -10DP’s. Our “open forum” on Discord, which allows me to interact with subscribers and others to allow direct questions and chart opinions on just about any stock, continues to grow with more participants every day. It is informative and allows me to share insights as the market is open and moving. The link is: https://discord.gg/ATvC7YZ and I will be there and active from before the open and all day. It’s a great place to share ideas and gain some insights, and we’ve grown to almost 3000 members. I also did this video over the weekend on a day-trade, (actually 2) that I made in AAPL on Friday. I think it’s highly informative as a guide to under what conditions these kind of trades in expiring options make sense. The link is https://youtu.be/qIV0G-hP3aM Enjoy!! Tonight’s closing comment video https://youtu.be/3T8DnUEKNaY SECTORS: We didn’t have much corporate news today but after the close we had earnings from both CSCO and LYFT with both reporting losses and giving poor guidance. LYFT in particular was just full of bad news telling shareholders that if the Court of Appeals did not strike down the State of California’s ruling that requires their drivers to be considered employees, that they would suspend all operations in Calif., 16% of their total rideshare business. The stock, already down from its high of $88.60 traded as low as $29.75 and is currently $30.10 -.42. Cisco (CSCO) reported a loss and gave poor guidance and this is the glaring difference between “Old” tech and “New” tech. While CSCO has fallen from an all-time high of $76, and a recent high of $58 to close today $48.10 + .91, it traded down to $44.77 and is $45.04 -3.05 or 6.34%. “New” tech stocks like AMD, NVDA, and AVGO are all at new all-time highs and up triple-digits this year. The biggest news of the late day was the announcement that TESLA (TSLA) declared a 5:1 stock split. While this is really just straight arithmetic, it does create some demand for the shares now, since when the stock split becomes effective at the end of August you would have 5 times the shares at 1/5 of the price. But it does promote the purchase of “round lots” as opposed to “odd lots.” Does it really increase demand? Not really, but most stocks (like AAPL) do seem to rise on the news. TSLA certainly did, closing $1,554,76 +180.37 (13.1%). Alright guys, Ive been working on this for a while and a post on here by a guy describing his portfolio here was the final kick in the ass for me to put this together. I started writing this to summarize what Im doing for my friends who are beginners, and also for me to make some sense of it for myself Hopefully parts of it are useful to you, and also ideally you guys can point out errors or have a suggestion or two. I'm posting this here as opposed to investing or canadianinvestor (blech) because they're just gonna tell me to buy an index fund. This first section is a preamble describing the Canadian tax situation and why Im doing things the way that I am. Feel free to skip it if you dont care about that. Also, there might be mistake regarding what the laws are here so dont take my word for it and verify it for yourself please. So here in Canada we have two types of registered accounts (theres actually more but whatver). There is the TFSA "Tax Free Savings Account", and RRSP "Registered Retirement Savings Account" For the sake of simplicity, from the time you turn 18 you are allowed to deposit 5k (it changes year to year based on inflation etc)in each of them. That "room" accumulates retroactively, so if you haventdone anything and are starting today and you are 30 you have around 60k you can put in each of them. The prevailing wisdom is that you should max out the TFSA first and you'll see why in a minute. TFSA is post tax deposits, with no capital gains or other taxes applied to selling your securities, dividends or anything else. You can withdraw your gains at any time, and the amount that you withdraw is added to the "room" you have for the next year. So lets say I maxed out my TFSA contributions and I take out 20k today, on January of next year I can put back in 20k plus the 5 or whatever they allow for that year. You can see how powerful this is. Theres a few limitations on what is eligable to be held in the TFSA such as bitcoin/bitcoin ETFs, overseas stocks that arent listed on NYSE, TSX, london and a few others. You can Buy to Open and Sell to Close call and put options as well as write Covered Calls. The RRSP is pre-tax deposits and is a tax deferred scheme. You deposit to lower your income tax burden (and hopefully drop below a bracket) but once you retire you will be taxed on anything you pull out. Withdrawing early has huge penalties and isnt recommended. You are however allowed to borrow against it for a down payment as a first time home buyer. The strategy with these is that a youngperson entering the workforce is likely to be in a fairly low tax bracket and (hopefully) earns more money as they get older and more skilled so the RRSP has more value the greater your pre-taxincome is. You can also do this Self Directed. Its not relevant to this strategy but I included it for the sake of context. Non registered accounts ( or any other situation, such as selling commercial real estate etc) is subject to a capital gains tax. In so far as I understand it, you add all your gains and losses up at the end of the year. If its a positive number, you cut that number IN HALF and add it to your regular pre-tax income. So if I made 60k from the dayjob and 20k on my margin account that adds up to 70k that I get taxed on. if its a loss, you carry that forward into the next year. Theres no distinction between long term and short term. Also physical PMs are treated differently and I'll fill that part in later once I have the details down. The reason why all that babble is important is that my broker Questrade, which isnt as good as IB (the only real other option up here as far as Im aware) has one amazing feature that no other broker has: "Margin Power" If you have a TFSA and a Margin account with them, you can link them together and have your securities in the TFSA collateralise your Margin account. Essentially, when it comes to the Maintenance Excess of the Margin Account QT doesnt care if its in the TFSA *or* the Margin! You can see how powerful this is. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ So as you can tell by the title, a lot of this is heavily inspired by Chris Cole's paper "The Allegory of the Hawk and the Serpent". You can read it here: https://www.artemiscm.com/welcome#research Between it, his interviews and my mediocre options skills at the time my mind was blown. Unfortunately I didnt know how to do the Long Volatility part until after the crash in March but I've since then had nothing but time to scour the internet and learn as much as I could. The way I interpret this isnt necessarily "what you should have right now", but what abstracted model they were able to backtest that gave them the best performance over the 90 years. Also, a lot of my portfolio I already had before I started trying to build this. As such my allocations dont match the proportions he gave. Not saying my allocations are better, just showing where they are at this time. I'm going to describe how I do Long Volatility at the end rather than the beginning since the way *I* do it wont make sense until you see the rest of the portflio. Physical PMs 22% I'm not sure wether he intended this to be straight up physical gold or include miners and royalty streaming companies so I will just keep this as physical. I consider Silver to be a non-expiring call option on gold, so that can live here too. I am actually *very* overweight silver and my strategy is to convert a large portion of it to gold (mostly my bars) to gold as the ratio tightens up. If youre into crypto, you can arguably say that has a place in this section. If an ETF makes sense for part of your portfolio, I suggest the Sprott ones such as PHYS. Sprott is an honest business and they actually have the metal they say they have. If you have enough, you can redeem your shares from the Royal Canadian Mint. The only downside is that they dont have an options chain, so you cant sell covered calls etc. Simple enough I suppose. One thing to bear in mind, there is a double edged sword with this class of assets. They're out of the system, theyre nobody's business but your own and theres no counter party. That unfortunately means that you cant lever against it for margin or sell covered calls etc. You can still buy puts though (more on that later) Commodity Trend (CTA) 10% https://youtu.be/tac8sWPZW0w Patrick Ceresna gave a good presentation on what this strategy is. Until I watched this video I just thought it meant "buy commodities". A real CTA does this with futures also so aside from the way he showed, there are two other ETFs that are worth looking at. COM - This is an explicit trend following ETF that follows a LONG/FLAT strategy instead of LONG/SHORT on a pile of commodity futures. So if they get a "sell" signal for oil or soybeans they sell what they have and go to cash. COMT- Holds an assortment of different month futures in different commodities, as well as a *lot* of various related shares in producers. Its almost a one stop shop commodities portfolio. Pays a respectable dividend in December If you want to break the "rules" of CTA, and include equities theres a few others that are also worth looking at KOL- This is a coal ETF. The problems with it are that a lot of the holdings dont have much to do with coal. One of them is a tractor company. A lot of the companies are Chinese so theres a bit of a red flag. Obviously Thermal Coal, the kind used for heating and powerplants isnt in vogue and wont be moving forward...but coking coal is used for steel manufacturing and that ain't going anywhere. The dividend is huge, pays out in December. A very very small position might be worth the risk. Uranium- I'm in URA because thats the only way for me to get exposure to Kazatoprom (#1 producer), which is 20% of the holdings. The other 20% is Cameco (#2 producer)and then its random stuff. Other than that I have shares in Denison which seems like its a good business with some interesting projects underway. I'm still studying the uranium space so I dont really have much to say about it of any value. RSX- Russia large caps. If you dont want to pick between the myriad of undervalued, high dividend paying commodity companies that Russia has then just grab this. It only pays in December but it has a liquid options chain so you can do Covered Calls in the meantime if you want. NTR- Nutrien, canadian company that was formed when two others merged. They are now the worlds largest potash producer. Pretty good dividend. They have some financial difficulties and the stocks been in a downtrend forever. I feel its a good candidate to watch or sell some puts on. I'm trying to come up with a way to play agriculture since this new phase we're going to be entering is likely to cause huge food shortages. EURN and NAT- I got in fairly early on the Tanker hype before it was even hype as a way to short oil but I got greedy and lost a lot of my gains. I pared down my position and I'm staying for the dividend. If you get an oil sell signal, this might be a way to play that still. Fixed Income/Bonds 10% Now, I am not a bond expert but unless youre doing some wacky spreads with futures or whatever... I dont see much reason to buy government debt any more. If you are, youre basically betting that they take rates negative. Raoul Pal of Real Vision is pretty firm in his conviction that this will happen. I know better than to argue with him but I dont see risk/reward as being of much value. HOWEVER, I found two interesting ETFs that seem to bring something to this portfolio IVOL- This is run by Nancy Davis, and is comprised of TIPS bonds which are nominally inflation protected (doubt its real inflation but whatever) overlayed with some OTC options that are designed to pay off big if the Fed loses control of the long end of the yield curve, which is what might happen during a real inflation situation. Pays out a decent yield monthly TAIL- This is a simpler portfolio of 10yr treasuries with ladder of puts on the SPX. Pays quarterly. Equities 58% (shared with options/volatility below) This is where it gets interesting, obviously most of this is in mining shares but before I get to those I found some interesting stuff that I'm intending to build up as I pare down my miners when the time comes to start doing that. VIRT- I cant remember where I saw this, but people were talking about this as a volatility play. Its not perfect, but look at the chart compared to SPY. Its a HFT/market making operation, the wackier things get the more pennies they can scalp. A 4% dividend isnt shabby either. FUND- This is an interesting closed end fund run by Whitney George, one of the principals at Sprott. He took it with him when he joined the company. Ive read his reports and interviews and I really like his approach to value and investing. He's kind of like if Warren Buffett was a gold bug. Theres 120 holdings in there, mostly small caps and very diverse...chicken factories, ball bearings all kinds of boring ass shit that nobody knows exists. Whats crucial is that most of it "needs to exist". Between him, his family and other people at Sprott they control 40% or so of the shares, so they definitely have skin in the game. Generous dividend. ZIG- This is a "deep value" strategy fund, run by Tobias Carlisle. He has a fairly simple valuation formula called the Acquirer's Multiple that when he backtested it, is supposed to perform very well. He did an interview with Chris Cole on real Vision where he discusses how Value and Deep Value havent done well recently, but over the last 100 years have proven to be very viable strategies. If we feel that theres a new cycle brewing, then this strategy may work again moving forward. I want to pause and point out something here, Chris Cole, Nassim Taleb and the guys at Mutiny Fund spend a lot of effort explaining that building a portfolio is a lot like putting together a good basketall team. They need to work together, and pick up each others slack A lot of the ETFs I'm listing here are in many ways portfolios in and of themselves and are *actively managed*. I specifically chose them because they follow a methodology that I respect but I can't do myself because I dont have the skill, temperament or access to. The next one is a hidden gem and ties into this. I'm not sure how much more upside there is in this one but man was I surprised. SII- Sprott Inc. I *never* see people listing this stock in their PMs portfolios. A newsletter I'm subscribed to described this stock as the safest way to play junior miners. Their industry presence, intellectual capital and connections means that they get *the best* private placement deals in the best opportunities. I cant compete with a staff like theirs and I'm not going to try. I bought this at 2.50, and I liked the dividend. Since then they did a reverse split to get on the NYSE and like the day after the stock soared. When it comes to mining ETFS I like GOAU and SILJ the best. None of their major holdings are dead weight companies that are only there because of market cap. I dont want Barrick in my portfolio etc. SGDJ is a neat version of GDXJ. Aside from that my individual miners/royalty companies are (no particular order) MMX SAND PAAS PGM AUM AG MUX RIO- Rio2 on the tsx, not rio tinto KTN KL Options/Volatility: varies So this is where we get to the part about options, Volatility and how I do it. I started out in the options space with The Wheel strategy and the Tastytrade approach of selling premium. The spreads and puts I sell, are on shares listed above, in fact some of those I dont hold anymore. Theres tons of stuff on this in thetagang and options so I wont go into a whole bunch (and you shouldnt be learning the mechanics from me anyway) but theres one thing I want to go over before it gets wild. If I sell a Cash Secured Put, from a risk management perspective its identical to just buying 100 shares of the underlying security. You are equally "Short Vol" as well, it just that with options its a little more explicit with the Greeks and everything. But if I use my margin that I was talking about earlier, then I can still collect the premium and the interest doesnt kick in unless Im actually assigned the shares. But if I sell too many puts on KL or AG, and something happens where the miners get cut down (and lets be real, they all move together) my margin goes down and then I get assigned and kaboom...my account gets blown up So what I need to do, is balance out the huge Short Vol situation in my portfolio, be net Long Vol and directly hedge my positions. Since the overwhelming majority of my equities are all tied to bullion this is actually a very easy thing to do. Backspreads https://youtu.be/pvX5_rkm5x0 https://youtu.be/-jTvWOGVsK8 https://youtu.be/muYjjm934iY So I set this up so the vast majority of my margin is tied up in these 1-2 or even 1-3 ratio put spreads that *I actually put on for a small credit*, and roll them every once in a while. I run them on SLV, and GDX. I keep enough room on my margin so I can withstand a 10% drawdown before it sets off the long end of the spreads and then I can ride it out until it turns around and we keep the PM bull market going. Theres another cool spread I've been using, which is a modified Jade Lizard; if already hold shares, I'll sell a put, sell a covered call, and use some of the premium to buy a longer dated call. Ive been running this on AG mostly. I have a few more spreads I can show you but Im tired now so it'll have to wait for later. As I said multiple times, I do intend to trim these miners later but now isnt the time for that IMO. I'm also monitoring this almost full time since I have an injury and have nothing better to do until I heal :p

Dear EWMCI Community, A lot has happened since our last Periodic Update! Most importantly, it seems that cryptocurrency markets have been in a bull run for the past three months... resulting in repeated 52-time-highs across all our indices! There are also some important updates about the EWMCI Ecosystem (see end of this message). But let's start with an overview of our four indices! EWX-11 Index: Running for 13 weeks now, this index represents the EWMCI "Core-11" cryptocurrencies. Since its inception, the index has appreciated approximately 65% - an impressive short-term record. Looking at the chart, the overall momentum seems to be slowing at this time, indicating that a short-term correction may be in the cards. Bronze Index: The small cap index has been making repeated 52-week highs since mid-May, 2020. In fact, it is up >220% since early March, 2020 and >380% since August, 2019! In terms of current price movement trends, the momentum seems to be drying up a bit, indicating that a near-term correction may be upon us. If that occurs, there is fairly strong support right around $115-$120, but hopefully the correction will end before reaching those levels. Silver Index: The mid caps have been rallying since early March, 2020. In addition to being , we are >210% up since March, 2020. Having said that, the question of short-term sustainability arises. Given the current chart behavior, it seems that there was a failed "island reversal" in late July / early August, and now we may be in a somewhat uncharted territory. This means that prices will either revert toward consecutive support levels ($20-$22 and $18, respectively) or we will continue upward from here. The next 2-3 weeks will show! Gold Index: Our large cap index has seen a major bull run in the past 7 weeks. There are two potential origins of this important move: [a] The ongoing increase in Bitcoin price; and [b] Investors transitioning from low-yielding bonds and stocks to higher-yielding staking coins. Given the magnitude of the recent upswing, the question of near-term sustainability arises. It is very likely that we will see some degree of downward pressure, but there is one big positive - There is now a fairly well defined support level right around $28-$29, going all the way back to mid-February, 2020. Other Developments: NLexch.com has now officially closed its doors. We would like to thank NLexch for their long-term support and professionalism, and we look to the potential DEX concept proposed by the NLexch leadership. Significant portion of NLexch activities, especially those involving EWX-11 coins, has now transitioned to both Zapple.com and Fides-ex.com. Please continue to support these EWMCI exchange partners. We are pleased to announce that xPloreNow.com is now up and running! Powered by Terracoin, xPloreNow.com is a truly independent, high-quality, reliable platform that provides comprehensive price discovery services for EWMCI "Core-11" coins (and increasingly for other cryptocurrency projects). Finally, the September EWMCI Index Rebalancing is upon us! Please do not forget to cast your votes for candidate coins... use the following link: https://linkto.run/p/GUDJIRLX Till next update! Cheers, S / EWMCI.info Always remember - Your wallet, your keys, your control, your coins!
Bitcoin 11 Years - Achievements, Lies, and Bullshit Claims So Far - Tooootally NOT a SCAM !!!!
That's right folks, it's that time again for the annual review of how Bitcoin is going: all of those claims, predictions, promises .... how many have turned out to be true, and how many are completely bogus ??? Please post / link this on Bitcoin (I am banned there for speaking the truth, so I cannot do it) ... because it'a way past time those poor clueless mushrooms were exposed to the truth. Anyway, without further ado, I give you the Bitcoin's Achievements, Lies, and Bullshit Claims So Far ... . Bitcoin Achievements so far:
It has spawned a cesspool of scams (2000+ shit coin scams, plus 100's of other scams, frauds, cons).
Many 1,000's of hacks, thefts, losses.
Illegal Use Cases: illegal drugs, illegal weapons, tax fraud, money laundering, sex trafficking, child pornography, hit men / murder-for-hire, ransomware, blackmail, extortion, and various other kinds of fraud and illicit activity.
Legal Use Cases: Steam Games, Reddit, Expedia, Stripe, Starbucks, 1000's of merchants, cryptocurrency conferences, Ummm ????? The few merchants who "accept Bitcoin" immediately convert it into FIAT after the sale, or require you to sell your coins to BitPay or Coinbase for real money, and will then take that money. Some of the few who actually accept bitcoin haven't seen a customer who needed to pay with bitcoin for the last six months, and their cashiers no longer know how to handle that.
Contributing significantly to Global Warming.
Wastes vasts amounts of electricity on useless, do nothing work.
Exponentially raises electricity prices when big miners move into regions where electricity was cheap.
It’s the first "currency" that is not self-sustainable. It operates at a net loss, and requires continuous outside capital to replace the capital removed by miners to pay their costs. It’s literally a "black hole currency."
It created a new way for people living too far from Vegas to gamble all their life savings away.
Spawned "blockchain technology", a powerful technique that lets incompetent programmers who know almost nothing about databases, finance, programming, or blockchain scam millions out of gullible VC investors, banks, and governments.
Increased China's foreign trade balance by a couple billion dollars per year.
Helped the FBI and other law enforcement agents easily track down hundreds of drug traffickers and drug users.
Wasted thousands if not millions of man-hours of government employees and legislators, in mostly fruitless attempts to understand, legitimize, and regulate the "phenomenon", and to investigate and prosecute its scams.
Rekindled the hopes of anarcho-capitalists and libertarians for a global economic collapse, that would finally bring forth their Mad Max "utopia".
Added another character to Unicode (no, no, not the "poo" 💩 character ... that was my first guess as well 🤣)
Provides an easy way for malware and ransomware criminals to ply their trade and extort hospitals, schools, local councils, businesses, utilities, as well as the general population.

2013-11-27: ""What is a Citadel?" you might wonder. Well, by the time Bitcoin became worth 1,000 dollar [27-Nov-2013], services began to emerge for the "Bitcoin rich" to protect themselves as well as their wealth. It started with expensive safes, then began to include bodyguards, and today, "earlies" (our term for early adapters), as well as those rich whose wealth survived the "transition" live in isolated gated cities called Citadels, where most work is automated. Most such Citadels are born out of the fortification used to protect places where Bitcoin mining machines are located. Is This Again A Bear Market as Bitcoin Falls 1400$ In One Single Week
This week, equity markets had their worst week in 12 years, and when this collapse happened, the crypto market also saw a blow. Cryptocurrency market had a significant sell-off this week, and this result is relatively reasonable given that people are selling their assets for fear of possible economic instability. Other safe havens such as gold and silver also saw a massive sell-off on Friday. Will the crypto markets find support in the coming weeks, or will we see a sustained downward trend in momentum?
The Selloff takes place after Bitcoin lost key support at $ 9,400
Bitcoin's price found resistance at $ 10,400, after which a test of $ 9,400 support was urgently needed. The $ 9,400 level was unable to provide sustained support, and when the price fell, it resulted in a significant sell-off across the crypto market. https://preview.redd.it/dom124n3s9k41.png?width=1087&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4c6c6d6cb94bea2bb8df50053e8e5949018bfde The sell-off led to the next support range of $ 8,200 to $ 8,400, and many horizontal levels are in place to provide potential temporary support and space for an aid rally. However, in the short term, many believe that the upward momentum is outside the markets as Bitcoin's price reaches a lower low (a key indicator of downward momentum) in the daily timeframe. Does this mean that the entire crypto market will reverse course and start to decline? Not at all. Bitcoin's price is still 27% higher than January 1st, making Bitcoin one of the most powerful assets of the year.
The weekly chart focuses on the 21-week MA
The weekly chart is currently based on an exciting MA (Moving Average), namely the 21-week MA. The previous bull cycle held this level as support for the bull summit in December 2017, which makes it an interesting indicator for bulls to hold onto. https://preview.redd.it/eh2aj4ffs9k41.png?width=1082&format=png&auto=webp&s=4c92e910e8b1ae5b45757f3a9e59feb2517cacd1 If the price could find support at this level, it could mean that the upward momentum will continue in the coming period. The weekly chart also clearly shows the massive sell-off of the past week. However, it is currently based on potential support. Holding the green zone at $ 8,400 would be in line with the 21-WMA and may grant an aid rally. For sustained upward momentum, it is critical that a break from the previous high of $ 10,400 take place, but such a move could take some time. The market must find support before these levels can be reached. If the Bitcoin price at $ 8,400 doesn't find support, the next target is $ 7,500 to $ 7,700.
Seems that at least once a week someone asks whether or not there is a dealer that accepts an alternate payment method. So I put together the chart below. Feel free to tell me if something is wrong and I will change it. Or if something else should be added I can do that too
Litecoin hasn't had any movement in over a year and now it has gone from $4 to $39 and now to $24. Remember Litecoin has a good distribution of holders because of it's old age. This increases the number of sellers in the market today because they are likely cashing out their gains after holding for so long. Keep in mind the addition of Litecoin to Coinbase will increase the number of new buyers in the market. This is a normal occurrence in the beginning of a new bull cycle. Price gains will come with profit taking adding to price liquidity and stability. We just had 6 straight weeks of price gains of almost 1000%. It is allowed to take a breather. During these times you will have market manipulation, FUD throwing, fear and panic selling, price drops and decreased volume trading. HODL FAST. We're only in the first stage of the price movement. There's more to come. So for anyone that bought Litecoin as an investment, walk away from the computer. Don't look at your charts. Don't log in to your accounts. It will be Ok. Litecoin is re-establishing itself as the silver to bitcoin's gold. The Bull will Rage On. If you look at the Monthly chart, there is a massive green candle with profound volume. This is a bull flag waving at you to buy and hodl. It's going to be a great year for LTC and your hodling strategies will pay off.
225 Good YouTubers & 30 Bad Ones! (Help Me Verify)
I am finalizing my list for CryptoInfluence - The link is a beta version. I've made several topics on this Reddit asking for input and received a tons of suggestions! This site is an offshoot of my popular Socialbook.io platform which is used by YouTubers to help get Sponsorships/Partnerships from brands. Brands use the platform search for YouTubers to advertise their products. Once the list is narrowed down they view their profiles and can choose to purchase their advanced profiles in order to view their audience demographics & to contact them. YouTubers get 50% of the price paid by brands to view their profiles & contact them. They keep 100% of whatever sponsorship deal they negotiate. This has been very successful so far. Up until recently the most popular searches were were Gaming & Fashion YouTubers. Over the summer we never received any requests for Crypto Influencers. Now we get 12 a day, making Crypto YouTubers our top category! The biggest complaint is that brands keep choosing the wrong ones and getting scammed. The Crypto Boom is so new that their are not very many "trusted" channels yet. There are no million+ channels. Most of the channels are a few months old between 1-20k subscribers. Its very difficult for them to choose. The site should do 3 things: 1. Allow brands to easily find quality YouTubers to partner with. Leading to both sides to profit. 2. Blacklist the scammer channels, and keep them from monetizing their channels. (There will be a form to report Scammers) 3. Clear out my inbox ;-) Below is the current list, sorted by number of subscribers (except the bottom 10 or so). Please help me verify any scammers. The ones I really need help with are at the very below. Also, if you know of any good channels that I don't have listed please let me know! Thanks a bunch! When the site is done, the channels will be ranked via an algorithm that is less dependent upon subscriber numbers, and more dependent upon relevant content, activity, and audience engagement. This should be able to properly rank that "Good" channels from the more "Mediocre" ones. There will also be a sorter (similar to our advanced search) where you can re-list the channels based on audience demographics, country, language, average views, etc. Legitimate Channels:
This post will consist of an explanation as to why I invested into XRP as my first crypto( I have vested in one more) and what our mutual goals should be. ME To begin I'll summarize my background first so maybe we can have some common ground. My first investment was in 2007/2008, I purchased gold and silver bullion. I had done sufficient research to give me the confidence to make that investmentment based on the economic climate. I saw growing sentiment around the community, the constant berating, manipulation of those assets, the power of Asia to lift an asset, and the ultimate end of a bull run. This was very profitable for me as I tripled my investment, but it was long term. Since then I've kept out of the market other than having retirement plans. BITCOIN I chose not to invest in Bitcoin even as I was aware of it from early discussions around it in 2009/2010. I didn't believe it would be a lasting store of value the same way as gold/silver. I won't discuss this further to keep this in line with XRP, but I do appreciate what opportunities were built by those in the Bitcoin community. XRP As recent news had been indicating growing demand for alt crypto's I thought it had been long enough that I hadn't looked into Bitcoin why not do some light reading. This turned into obsessive researching of the technical aspects of blockchain, understanding PoW/PoS/PoC, 51% attack, the Bizantine generals problem, forks, and much more. I highly recommend learning about alt Cryptos by familiarizing yourself with the technical issues surrounding the technologies. I learned a big lesson with investing in an asset for store of value such as gold(Bitcoin). It is a bet against the economy, and insurance against your government's failing policies. There are other uses for Bitcoin, but it doesn't have a strong use case. Again I will not go further with Bitcoin, I just wanted to highlight the pessimistic attitude required for store of value to be an investment vehicle. After examining the top 20 and bottom 20 pool of Cryptos, I came to realize the high potential for success of XRP. Ripple as an organization has a strong team of cryptographers, experienced leadership/management, elite financial backing, corporate professionalism, and possibly the best use case for Cryptos to date. They partnered with institutions that will only leave them in a position to network with the best and brightest. They are helping to dismantle the negative view of blockchain technology. Bitcoin has a reputation that umbrellas the entire sphere of Cryptos and has forced a need to see it's demise or a clear distinction between it and others. XRP OR RIPPLE The big fear of XRP being abandoned is both redundant and unlikely. Ripple is integrating it's technology and showing a clear use case for the benefits of it's technology. This is by providing software at low or no cost to use, but in order for that software to communicate efficiently they need a common asset to make those transfers. That asset exists and there is already value built in. What would be the incentive of neglecting a 9 billion dollar market that has been built prior to having this tech go online for these banks. Programs have been put in place to control the growth of XRP and add stability/confidence. With the recent news of 300million with volume rebates, how could the conclusion be that XRP will not coincide with Ripples growth? SWELL It's a networking event to familiarize those not involved in blockchain, people are not in tune the same way these small communities are. If anyone in my circle knows about Bitcoin, it is far and few between. Not one person knows any details on it's function or purpose. If anyone has educated them on some details it was likely to be me. Educating leads to investments and growth, which is the purpose of this conference. Shake hands, learn something new, and show that you can attract important people to an obscure event in the eyes of the general public. In this case I suggest to buy the dip. PRICE DURING SWELL Crypto exchanges have attracted well funded and experienced traders who can time markets well. Place that against novice investors who think they can time dips and welcome to the recent shakedown. Money has been lost by would be day/swing traders against professionals. This has been profitable for those with the ability to read the psychology of traders in the market and reading chart action. If you are holding just by more and hold your position. Outside of that we have one more day for a possible announcement, we've had so many this month alone. Hopefully that will make some people happy, but if your in this long term you should be satisfied with all the other news we've had. FUTURE AND PRICE We can't predict nor guarantee how high or low the future value will be. We can assume calculating various possibilities and some might be more accurate than others on their marks. What the future holds for this company is growth, they are pioneering the use case scenario for other blockchain tech. Look at who they are surrounding themselves with, while this is in its infancy. We have the benefit of investing in a way that you couldn't do with a regular institution. Before I made my first investments I was keenly aware of Google and the like. However I was very young and uninterested in investing, most teenagers aren't. This is an opportunity to be the person you wish you were 10, 20, or 30 years ago. I don't really know what's in Ripples future, I don't expect them to monopolize the industry. There will be competition and if they can weather the changes and be first they can hold a greater market share. It ok to have competition to better their organization and create a healthy market. We just have to be behind the best team and right now that is Ripple/XRP. Sorry if this was long and just a waste of time. I hope it helps a few people who may have been worried or gets someone to be curious.
CGB - Open Source Community Development and Marketing Strategy
Cryptogenic Bullion (CGB) Open Source Community Development and Marketing Strategy
NOTE: This document has been totally replaced by CGB's new website which will incorporate all of the resources found here. http://cgb.holdings/marketing/
This document contains a collaborative framework for the community development and marketing strategy of the Cryptogenic Bullion cryptocurrency. It is intended to be updated by any member of the CGB community who has a new idea or believes they can refine an existing one. The document is open to the public because it serves as a document of logic and open debate. I believe that releasing the strategy itself might provide other deserving cryptos with some guidance to take their logical place in the ecosystem. This document contains the strengths of CGB, misconceptions about CGB, community resources, community development, viral marketing concepts and highlighted communities. Anyone who wishes to discuss any part or offer updates can reply to either post. I will try to keep the post up to date. Please understand that I am an independent community advocate like yourself. I am only a small piece of the bigger picture and each must take their own initiative in order for this campaign to succeed. Cryptogenic Bullion Strengths Proof of Stake Eco-Security: Cryptogenic Bullion is a second generation cryptocurrency employing an advanced hybrid of legacy Proof of Work mining and Proof of Stake minting to secure the blockchain. This multi-pronged approach makes the "51% attack" a thing of the past. Not only would an attacker have to control half of the CPU power on the CGB network, but they would also have to own half of the total currency supply of CGB in order to attempt a "double-spend" attack. Although Proof of Stake can be used alone to protect the network, the legacy Proof of Work aspect of CGB remains as an additional security layer. The power consumption of CGB will remain far lower than any other legacy Proof of Work cryptocurrency as most of the reward for securing the network is provided through Proof of Stake minting which can be completed quickly on a smart phone, instead of a supercomputer cluster. Interest Bearing (1.5%): A major benefit of Proof of Stake minting is that you can pay yourself 1.5% interest on savings, without the need for a bank to take its cut. Compared to legacy Proof of Work systems which reward only those with mining equipment, the benefit is made directly to the people who maintain a savings of Cryptogenic Bullion. A Proof of Work mining incentive of 0.5% brings the yearly production of CGB to 2.0%; a rate modelled after the supply of gold. Inflationary Stage Completed (rare): In order to distribute coins to the widest population base, cryptographic currencies rely on a mining protocol called Proof of Work. This puts new coins into the hands of those with mining equipment like a gaming PC, or a cutting edge server. It gives everyone a fair chance to adopt and spread the currency, but creates the volatility and downward price pressure seen in so many other cryptocurrencies. Cryptogenic Bullion is the only second generation cryptocurrency to have completed this inflationary stage due to its accelerated reward halving. Without this relentless dumping of new coins that almost all other cryptocurrrencies are now struggling against, Cryptogenic Bullion is ready to meet its market potential. Active Developers and Community: The development team has proven itself to be publicly accountable to the CGB community and has built a reputation for dependability, transparency, and forward thinking. With this foundation, the CGB community is able to focus on extensive advertising and promotional efforts which have drawn in a diverse collection of individuals to the merits of Cryptogenic Bullion. With a social media focus we have been actively engaging many different markets through the use of, among other media, our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Cryptogenic-Bullion/134177020124803), which has over 15,000 likes and CGB's twitter feed (https://twitter.com/CryptogenicBull) with a current following of over 400 individuals. Misconceptions about Cryptogenic Bullion Fast Mining/Inflation Stage: One common misconception about Cryptogenic Bullion is that its shorter mining/inflation stage has not given a wide enough range of individuals the chance to participate as early adopters. We must appreciate that this deployment method was chosen to avoid the long period of inflation which increases the volatility and stagnates most other cryptocurrencies in use today. The CGB community has been very active making every effort to get the word out about CGB and make it available on multiple exchanges. What is not realized is that CGB is still in the early adoption phase but instead of mining coins, the low price is what now enables early adopters to participate in this opportunity. CGB is only just now beginning to realize its potential to the discerning investor. Community Resources
Community Development In addition to helping to spread the word, there are other tasks which need to be undertaken in order to support the growth of our community. Any suggestions about areas of development are welcome.
Lightweight Blockchain Client: (Research Stage) See this post. This gives a client the ability to conduct transactions with a subset of the blockchain. It's useful for mobile applications and offline transaction signing. eg. BitcoinJ, Armory and Electrum
Expanded Wallet features: (Research Stage) We are looking to add some exciting new features to our wallet software including CGB network statistics and an RSS feed like functionality. All suggestions welcome!
Offline Transaction Signing: (Research Stage) This requires the above Lightweight Blockchain Client. eg. Bitcoin Trezor: This device contains a static environment which holds your private key for offline signing of transactions. This kind of technology is seriously needed for long term viability.
Wallet Software Speed Optimization: (Research Stage) Currently the CGB wallet software can take a couple minutes to load (or more depending on CPU). Some other crypto-currencies have been able to optimize their load times down to 15 seconds.
Dedicated CGB Forum: (In progress) A dedicated forum would be a nice touch.
CGB Wiki: (In testing phase) This will be of great value to us as we can logically create and arrange how-to documentation and all other kinds of information in an easy to navigate and reference repository.
Reddit Formatted Advertisements: (Requesting Ideas) We are in need of advertisements for CGB which are formatted 300px wide x 250px tall. These can be generic advertisements or targeted to a specific subreddit. These advertisements will link back to the /CryptogenicBullion subReddit to bring in new community members. For now buying ad space is voluntary but perhaps we may involve some kind of fund to help in the future. (Thanks hybridsole for bringing this up) Update: These functinos might not be as useful as we become more reliant on PoS for security, but might not be a bad idea anyhow, research required. (Artiface) In the future I would like to have the client have a nice visualisation of POS showing stake weight and an estimate of when stake should be generated.
Statistical Data: (Requesting Data) We need information to compare CGB to other coins. See: http://bitinfocharts.com/ This includes all kinds of data like technology comparison, coin variables, distribution, and all relevant attributes to be compared with each other.
Viral Marketing Concepts Got Crypto?: I believe that this phrase has the power to turn Cryptogenic Bullion's slightly awkward name into an advantage. Not only is it a professional name appealing to the investment community, but it can be called 'Crypto' for short. No other coin can logically take this title with more credit than Cryptogenic Bullion. For example: http://i.imgur.com/BU1HSdC.jpg CGB Vault: This viral concept involves locating high quality vault images and replacing the circular entrance with a translucent CGB logo. This can then include a slogan and or CGB Strengths. For example: http://i.imgur.com/JgSQkHw.jpg CGB Bull: This viral concept involves making reference to spanish traditions of running with the bulls. A bull market is one which has established an up-trend in valuation. "2014 - Year of the BULLion!" "Run with the CGB Bulls!" etc. Any imagery involving actual bull runs and possibly subtle market chart imagery. Be careful not to appeal to greed, we don't need that kind of volatility. For example: http://i.imgur.com/Fe17cZE.png and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa-nfIksY4o Crypto-Asset Trinity: As explained in this paper. A well functioning cryptographic asset market requires three roles to be filled: market gateway, adopted currency, and store of wealth. Bitcoin is the gateway that allows us to access so many markets especially USD of course. Dogecoin is riding a wave of excitement to be accepted by a wide array of merchants and businesses, creating an economy that doesn't require conversion back to government issued fiat as the people choose their own currency. Cryptogenic Bullion is the first crypto-currency to display all of the properties of money, while providing the bearer with interest for holding it. It is portable, divisible, fungible, scarce, low inflation, durable, non-consumable, and a store of wealth. Crypto Stacking: I know I am not the only one who calls the contents of my CGB wallets a "stack." Some of us have found interest in crypto-currencies for the same reason that we may also hold physical Silver or Gold. Any parallels that can be drawn in imagery or wording to the "Silver Bug" community can be a fun way to promote value and inclusion. Highlighted Communities This marketing campaign will first focus on Reddit as our organization and jumping platform to other opportunities. The most effective ways that we can communicate with any community on Reddit is through submission of new ideas, content or links, and through discussion surrounding such a submission. The idea is to try to become more active in the community through informative discussion. If you are not familiar with Reddit, it is a place for content and link, sharing and discussion. It is important that you upvote only those comments and posts with true merit, and instead of downvoting, try to leave an informative or helpful comment. Try to promote CGB only where it is on-topic to do so. Otherwise, general discussion and debate often leads itself to such an opportunity. When someone has located a post with discussion that could use some CGB community support, they will post a link to the post in the /GotCrypto subreddit with the prefix "Opportunity - ". /GotCrypto will be the collection point for opportunities that arise in various communities to convey logic, reason, and positive messages. It's important to remember that every community we wish to interact with has its own unique perspective and strategies for contact. We know that any community is made up of members who belong to many other groups and communities; there is a lot of overlap. Our message needs to be as clear as possible and some of the best insights will come from these people. The purpose of this section is to enable these and all other CGB supporters to learn about and understand the most effective ways to communicate with the highlighted community. As this document is updated we should try to build a full picture of each community including:
(NB: typos mine; crappy OCR software. If anyone wants to see the Eliott Wave he's discussing and I'll make it available.) Bitcoin Bubble or Bitcoin Breakthrough? How about both? by Elliott Prechter December 20, 2013 in the Elliott Wave Theorist EWT discussed Bitcoin for the first time in August 2010, when the currency traded at six cents. As far as we know, EWI was the first financial publisher to discuss it. Bitcoin was unknown to the general public and off private investors’ radar. Even the earliest adopters did not take it as seriously as they should have. The most notable example of this is the man who paid 10,000 BTC for a pizza. This pizza purchase is now famous (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=l37.0), and many continue to track its price in USD terms via the “Bitcoin Pizza Index," which recently hit an all-time high of over S12 million. Fast forward to today, and the currency is regularly featured in financial news and social media. Bitcoin Magazine has become popular, Congress is holding hearings on the currency, Germany has defined its role in finance, China is ruling on its legality, and the business world is adopting it. The most prominent business to embrace Bitcoin is Virgin Galactic, one of the many creations of billionaire Richard Branson (http://www.cnbc.com/id/101220710). EWT readers were prepared for all this. When Bitcoin was still in the shadows, the August 2012 issue said,
Presuming bitcoin succeeds as the world’s best currency-and I believe it will-it should rise many more multiples in value over the years. -EWT, August 2012
The big question on the minds of investors is not what Bitcoin has achieved, but should they buy Bitcoins now? It’s amusing that so many people ignored Bitcoin upon hearing about it in 20 1 0, but now that its price has gone up 20,000 times, they want to invest. Notwithstanding the currency’s potential, this shift in attitude is a signal saying now is not the time to buy. Let’s look at four areas of evidence: 1) Optimism is off the charts. Past issues of The Elliott Wave Financial Forecast discussed people selling their homes and borrowing money to invest in Bitcoins. That was near the peak of wave Now the desire to buy has grown even more extreme. Bloggers are calling for Bitcoin to reach S1 million. . .soon. One young investor borrowed a million dollars from his father and without his knowledge invested it in Bitcoin (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=359228.0). The other day I walked into a convenience store wearing a Bitcoin T-shirt, and the owner asked me if he should invest now. I felt like I was living in 1929. 2) Investors have recently been rushing to buy a rash of 95 (at last count; see https://bitcointalk. org/index.php?topic=l34179.0) new clones of Bitcoin that have recently emerged: Litecoin, Namecoin, Zerocoin, BBQCoin, PPcoin, PrimeCoin, NovaCoin, FeatherCoin, TerraCoin, Devcoin, Megacoin, Mincoin, DigitalCoin, Anoncoin, Worldcoin, Freicoin, IxCoin... and more. (That they are clones is obvious from the lack of imagination in naming.) This rush of clones is reminiscent of the South Sea bubble of 1720 and the dot-com mania of 1999, when shares of zero-profit, copycat companies (and even fake ones) sold like hotcakes. Virtually every week now, the Bitcoin code is forked into a new coin that investors bid up. lt’s as if buyers feel the world will run out of cryptocurrency, which in fact is infinitely and freely duplicable. 3) The Elliott wave pattern from Bitcoin’s inception shows five waves up. The December ll Short Term Update noted that a major top was potentially in place: The peak [in Bitcoin] came 10 days after U.S. officials, ranging from an assistant attorney general with the Department of Justice to Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke, “spoke approvingly of the potential of virtual currencies." So, here again, the government is getting on board at the very tail end ofa long rise. Since we posted that comment, Bitcoin has fallen an additional 40%, bringing it down nearly 60% from its all-time high. Will this prove to be just another brief, sharp correction or something larger? Take a look at the completed impulse pattern shown in Figure 3. The structure begins very near the inception of the currency three-plus years ago, when it was selling for a penny. Notice that wave @ is a triangle (see text, p.49), which typically comes in the fourth-wave position. Wave a thrust, carried to the all-time high of S 1242 on November 29. The reversal from that point should mark the start of the largest bear market to date in the currency. This forecast is in tune with the anticipated bear market in the broader stock averages, which have strongly correlated with Bitcoin’s pattern. The chart is in log scale to show the returns one would have achieved in each impulse leg of the pattern. Wave Q) achieved a stunning 3 19ox gain. Wave ® achieved 59.3% (a Fibonacci 3/5) of the gain of wave Q). Wave ® (measured from the low of wave @) achieved 39.3% (a Fibonacci 2/5) of the gain of wave (D and 66.3% (a Fibonacci 2/3) of the gain of wave Therefore, while each upward move has been large, each successive wave has been decelerating in log terms relative to past waves, in each case by a Fibonacci multiple. Also notice that Bitcoin trades more like a commodity than a stock, with its blow-off tops and extended fifih waves. Most of the gain since early 20 12 has been within (5) of ® and the final wave all of which is probable retracement territory. 4) Most people involved in this mania seem oblivious to Bitcoin’s fundamentals. In my experience, raising these issues publicly earns scorn for spreading “FUD.” But there is a good reason-now widely ignored-that Bitcoin is beta software. Our August 2010 piece explained how Bitcoin operates, but it’s worth revisiting some details to understand just how out-of-touch investor expectations are with the reality of Bitcoin technology. Specifically, let's examine the limitations of Bitcoin’s blockchain. The blockchain is the heart of Bitcoin. In its simplest form, the blockchain is a public ledger of all transactions that happen in the Bitcoin network. Each block is composed of individual records that track the ownership of each coin. The transactions “fit” together cryptographically. A block is created about once every 10 minutes by the network. Each block is then cryptographically linked to the previous blocks in the chain, forming a history of all transactions that-to Bitcoin’s credit-cannot be forged. To the extent that Bitcoin currency is real, it could be said that the blockchain is the Bitcoin currency. Yet the core problem with the blockchain is that it grows over time and must be shared by every fiill Bitcoin node. Today it is nearing 13 GB in size. Now, 13 GB doesn't sound too large, but at the current rates of exponential growth the blockchain is projected to become over a terabyte in size in just three years. What's more, the amount of accompanying data required to handle just a fraction of Visa-level traffic would overwhelm even the fastest Internet connections. This technical hurdle makes the “Bitcoin is going to a million” commentary seem premature. The hope for Bitcoin’s future lies in its open-source nature, allowing it to be improved, and Moore’s Law. Moore’s Law is colloquially used to signify the exponential increases in computer-hardware efficiency over time, including network capacity. But Moore’s law-which calls for a doubling of computer speed every two years-has hit a snag in recent years: the rate of improvement in performance has dramatically slowed, causing many experts to call for the end of the operation of Moore’s law. (For the record, Moore’s Law was never intended to refer to computer hardware performance, but the media have confused the term to the point where it is now generally used in this context. Originally, it was intended to refer to the increase in the number of transistors that are packed into microchips.) The past four years have been an exciting ride for Bitcoin. But the evidence says the Bitcoin bull market is done for now. It would be best to put Bitcoin out of your mind for the duration of the deflationary wave that is curling toward the financial world. Due to the psychology surrounding Bitcoin, as well as its correlation with the stock indices, it is too risky to buy now. Due to its open-source nature, however, Bitcoin’s infrastructure should continue to improve over the years. For the long run, I agree with Roger Ver, the CEO of memory dealers and one of Bitcoin’s earliest adopters, who recently said, “It is just getting started." But one could have said that about the U.S. stock market in 1966. It would have been visionary only if you were patient and willing to hold through a very deep valley. Our position is that Bitcoin will never again sell for 6 cents, as it did when EWT first wrote it up. But there will be another time to buy it for relative peanuts alongside stocks, real-estate, gold and silver. When the time comes, no one will be interested. Elliott Prechter's primary task at EWI is working on EWA VES, our in-house artificial intelligence softwarefor analyzing Elliott waves.
The gold: silver ratio is the proportional relationship between the respective spot prices of gold and silver.
